27 & 28: Holy Frijoles*

Sweater: Target. Shirt: Nordstrom. Skirt: ? Tights: HUE. Sock: Sock Dreams. Boots: Frye. Kid: Madrox.

27 of 30.

What can I say? This was a Monday outfit: no belts, jewelry or scarves because I was too tired to care or try. But there is a kid! He comes courtesy of my womb. Hooray!Anyway, Mad is my sweet boy. He’s very attached to me. He loves to “caress” my hair, which is usually super sweet but occasionally reeeally irritating. I can’t hold him without his hands grasping for strands to pull. Sometimes when I’m about to reprimand him, he leans back, stares at me and says, “Heh.” And then I melt. Speaking of hair, I haven’t felt like doing it the past couple of days. Hence the hood scarf below.

Hood scarf: Imelda’s (Pistil). Dresses: Zara and Buffalo Exchange. Tights: HUE.  Boots: Frye.

28 of 30.

Hey, what is that down there? Oh, just another step. Which leads to another one! Amazing.

I decided to wear my shirtdress over my Zara dress after seeing this picture in the latest Anthro catalog:

And then I added the polka dot tights for kicks and giggles.

And speaking of tights, can Hansel from Basel make these babies in larger sizes?! Please? Thank you.

*I’m not sure why I used that title. Probable because that’s what I say every time I go outside. It’s that cold.

(Not) Dressed to the nines

Cardigan: Fossil. Shirt: J. Crew. Pants: Buffalo Exchange. Shoes: Bass.

1. Do you like my potty pose in the first picture? Ha! Gotta go gotta go gotta go right now.

2. These pants are another great find from Buffalo Exchange, little to no gaping in the back which hardly ever happens to me! I have always had a problem with finding pants/jeans that fit me since I have a rather *ahem* large bum.

3. I love The Nines,

a movie told in three parts and the actors (Ryan Reynolds, Melissa McCarthy, and Hope Davis) play a different character in each. Nines are not quite humans (sevens), not quite  gods (tens), definitely not koalas (eights), but they can create worlds in the blink of an eye. So. Apparently it was written for Melissa McCarthy (aka Sookie, who is amazing), who also plays herself?Awesome.

4. Didn’t love 9.

5. I have yet to see Nine.

6. There are too many nine movies.

7. Can you tell I love movies?

8. Andy and I are watching Deep Space Nine from the very beginning. It’s more than a little weird, so much overacting and knowing smiles at the end of each episode!

9. Have I mentioned how excited I am to be visiting California in a couple of days? I’m longing for sunshine. My porch pictures weren’t really cutting it, too much wind and rain.

8 days a week

Kind of random but I like it.

Aaaaand this is what happens when I pose for my husband: I get super self-conscious.

Secksy.

I loooooooove this dress so much, especially with this military cardigan and black boots. I also wore my cameo again, although you can’t really see it in the pictures I took. Here’s a close-up:

I love pinning things to pockets!

I topped it off with my typewriter key earrings:

(picture from a while ago)

I wore my black Fossil skirt underneath the dress to give it a little oomph; it’s my makeshift petticoat. I want to pair this dress with some black oxfords eventually, they’re on my list of things that I want NEED.

Here comes the rain again

Coat: Tulle. Fur collar: Ebay? Sweater: Fossil. Shirt: Buffalo Exchange. Skirt: Fossil. Tights: ? Brogues: Franco Sarto. Bag: Etsy

Jewelry: self-made skeleton key necklace

and Fossil earrings:

which I bought in New York and looooooooove. Fossil’s got a lot of great jewelry right now. I have to avoid their stores from now on, too much stuff that I want/NEED. I just noticed that this outfit is pretty much all Fossil. *fist pump* I was resolved to build an outfit around this skirt, I hardly ever wear it. I wore another skirt beneath it to give it some poof. And since it’s been getting kind of cool lately I pulled out one of my fur collars and pinned it to my favorite coat. I eventually want to attach a velvet ribbon to it so that I don’t have to keep puncturing the collar.

I am sooo happy that it’s Friday. It’s supposed to rain for the next week or so (or maybe forevermore?) and I will miss the sun, but I will enjoy wearing my tights frequently! I need to get a new umbrella, preferably one that looks like this:

Saddle up!

Shirt: Trovata

Belt: Lady Bird’s General Store

Pants: Buffalo Exchange (J. Crew)

Shoes: Bass

This outfit needs suspenders!

I’ve been finding some great stuff at Buffalo Exchange lately. These pants are pretty spectacular, right? I took them to a seamstress to have them shortened, and when I tried them on she exclaimed, “Whoa, nice pants!” INDEED. I love the way they look with my saddle shoes (which, by the way, are still on sale)!

Wait…there’s a saddle BOOT? A bit much, I think.

Queenie

Shirt: Buffalo Exchange

Sweater: Gap

Pants: J CREW

Shoes: Bass

Button: Atlantic Treefox

Don’t you love it when the socks you blindly grab for in the early hours of the morning perfectly match your outfit? Score!

I love my crown badge; my boss saw it and asked me if my nickname had been Queen or Princess growing up. Ha! I was more of a “Mouse”, quiet and shy and always somewhere reading a book instead of socializing. I was fascinated (and still am, quite frankly) by people who oozed confidence and said whatever came to mind. I always thought that when I turned thirty I would be like that. I’m not quite there yet.

This is the kind of outfit that I wore non stop in high school. Sweaters/sweater vests, chinos/cords, my dad’s argyle socks and oxfords. This particular outfit was based off of the fact that I had a chiropractic appointment that day and I needed to wear pants seeing as my Doctor would be lifting my legs up repeatedly. I also wanted to wear my saddle shoes. And voila. MAGIC.

Jumper

Bomber: Andy and Bax

Shirt: Buffalo Exchange

Jumper: Old Navy

Sweater: Fossil

Tights: Rite Aid?

Brogues: Franco Sarto

Belt: Ladybird’s General Store

Here’s an outfit from a couple of days ago.

Four days until I head off to NYC for my thirtieth birthday! I’m excited and scared; I’m trying not to think about how much I’m going to miss my guys. Packing is going to be interesting. I want to bring multiple outfit options for each day but I don’t really want to have more than one carry on bag (I’m only going to be there for 3 days). I’ll try to post outfit ideas, not sure if I’ll have time though.

I can’t wait to see my sister Bethany and my Aunt! And I can’t wait to see the city again. The last time I was there I was eight years old. My memories of New York are still so vivid though: I can remember the packed streets and the brownstones. The top of the Empire State Building (I kept imagining my year old brother falling, I was so scared!). TRAFFIC. The crowded apartment in Queens where we were staying. And let’s not forget impaling myself on an iron fence.

Good times.

Good times.

SRSLY though: New York, New York! It’s a wonderful town!

Raindots

Bowler hat: Goorin

Sweater and tights: Target

Dress: Buffalo Exchange

Boots: Frye

I managed to take these pictures the two seconds the rain decided to take a break. Sorry they’re so dark!

I was going to pair this dress with my new saddle shoes, but after I saw the pools of water forming outside I decided it was a boots kind of day. I love these boots, the second I have 2oo or more dollars to randomly blow I won’t think twice about getting another pair. So awesome.

The bowler hat I love in theory but I’m not sure it works on my head.

And now on to the music portion of the show:

One of my favorite songs with rain in the title. Old school. College, to be exact. This song will always remind me of being young and overly dramatic. Well, I’m not so young anymore at least. Anyway, I can’t listen to this song without also listening to “Sleeping Satellite” by Tasmin Archer and “Come Here Boy” by Imogene Heap (check out those names, right?).

They all have the same kind of sound and elicit the same feeling in me, like I’ve (to quote “Into the Ocean” by Blue October) “relaxed and floated into space”. Yeah, I’m gonna add that song to the list as well.

Brooch Pt. 2

Shirt: Buffalo Exchange

Belt: Off another dress

Skirt: Fossil

Mary Janes: Pink Studio

Cloche: Target

Brooch: The Vamoose

That last picture is dedicated to my sister Bethany.

I wore my brooch again. On a pocket.

I also think this shirt would look good with some of these pinned to it:

I need to hit up Andy and Bax.

Brooch

Shirt: Buffalo Exchange (J. Crew)

Skirt: Can’t remember

Tights: Target

Shoes: Nicole

Brooch: The Vamoose

I’ve worn this brooch several times before realizing that brooch + pocket = match made in heaven.  Haven’t I already rhapsodized about pockets?! THE BEST. Even pockets on infant clothing are swoonworthy, nevermind the occasional cheerio that gets lodged in them. Chances are I will spend money on clothing that my children do not need simply because there are strategically placed pockets! This skirt does not have pockets. This needs to be remedied immediately. In conclusion, pockets are made of win.

Now all I need is a pocket watch and a monocle to make my life complete.

Heathers. WHAT IS NOT TO LOVE.

Remember the scenes where Veronica would write in her diary in HUGE sprawling text, three words to a page, wearing a monocle?! I. DIE.
