I was looking though my Stylefile board on Pinterest and I was struck by how similar my outfit was one that I’d pinned ages ago:

I’d KILL for that bag, btw.

The Pixies put out a new EP recently and I’m really loving it, especially this song:

2012 and DIY OMG

First off, HAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPY NEW YEAR! Here’s how I rang it in:

I watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes with my nearest and dearest, a movie I had no interest in watching previously but Bethany INSISTED. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least, might’ve even teared up a bit.

If anything, this spoonful of sugar definitely helped the medicine go down:

Heh. I amuse myself.

So I’m a little obsessed with Hansel from Basel kneepad tights, which I’ve mentioned before. I bought some once during an incredible sale from Anthropologie a while ago but sadly they didn’t fit (STILL BITTER)  so I settled for some brightly colored knee highs.

Here they are on my legs my first day back at work.

M and Z decided to join me in my head turning picture taking.

Cardigan and Skirt: ZARA. Shirt: Trovata (Gilt). Monocle necklace: Self-made. Socks: Hansel from Basel kneepad knee highs. Boots: Gee WaWa.

But I still want kneepad TIGHTS, you know? Because knee highs fall down and all that, and how annoying is it when that happens a million times a day? So when I found this blog post I was super excited! Then I GOT TO WORK.

My inspirations:

Marc by Marc Jacobs, Fall 2009.

Hansel from Basel tights, duh.

Here are my grey tights with a turquoise blue kneepad. They came out a little rough around the edges, but it was my first pair after all.

I tried hearts the second time around. I was expecting these tights to be a little lighter, more of a heather brown. But I’m still pleased with how the hearts came out, even if they are a little hard to see. BTW, I love my new jacket from Tulle ($30!)!

Both tights are of course from Sock Dreams (Foot Traffic Combed Cotton), and I used Jacquard Textile Colors as suggested.

Do you like to do it yourself?

The Bees Knees

Fur collar: Archives Chicago (who I found through the 30 for 30 challenge!). Sweater: Target. Skirt: Anthropologie. Thigh Highs: Hansel from Basel. Wellies: Tretorn.

Turns out I’m one step closer to my dream of being Nacho Libre.

Seriously though, I never saw that movie. Didn’t seem worth it. Now I might, if only for a glimpse of those awesome tights!

These socks (I also have them in red and white) are the closest I could get to the kneepad tights that I have been lusting after. Because as I’ve mentioned before (with much bitterness), they don’t fit over my thighs. So thigh-highs seemed the logical conclusion. But dude. They never stop trying to roll their way down my legs. In conclusion, I also need sock garters in my life. Knee patches belong on one’s KNEES, not on their ankles! It’s just not right.

27 & 28: Holy Frijoles*

Sweater: Target. Shirt: Nordstrom. Skirt: ? Tights: HUE. Sock: Sock Dreams. Boots: Frye. Kid: Madrox.

27 of 30.

What can I say? This was a Monday outfit: no belts, jewelry or scarves because I was too tired to care or try. But there is a kid! He comes courtesy of my womb. Hooray!Anyway, Mad is my sweet boy. He’s very attached to me. He loves to “caress” my hair, which is usually super sweet but occasionally reeeally irritating. I can’t hold him without his hands grasping for strands to pull. Sometimes when I’m about to reprimand him, he leans back, stares at me and says, “Heh.” And then I melt. Speaking of hair, I haven’t felt like doing it the past couple of days. Hence the hood scarf below.

Hood scarf: Imelda’s (Pistil). Dresses: Zara and Buffalo Exchange. Tights: HUE.  Boots: Frye.

28 of 30.

Hey, what is that down there? Oh, just another step. Which leads to another one! Amazing.

I decided to wear my shirtdress over my Zara dress after seeing this picture in the latest Anthro catalog:

And then I added the polka dot tights for kicks and giggles.

And speaking of tights, can Hansel from Basel make these babies in larger sizes?! Please? Thank you.

*I’m not sure why I used that title. Probable because that’s what I say every time I go outside. It’s that cold.

Golden Girl

Dress worn as a shirt: Dizzy’s in SLO (closed now, I think)

Skirt: Nordstrom

Sandals: Pink Studio

Jump. For my love. JUMP IN.

My kid’s making an appearance in this post. Have no idea what he’s looking at when his mom is doing something SUPER COOL.

I need more summer clothes, I have a wealth of tights and cardigans and things upon/with which to layer, but I need sleeveless and legless things. I don’t own any shorts, but I like the look of these:

and these:

…just kidding.

Speaking of things that go on my legs (nice segue, right? Right.),  I just ordered some awesome (on sale!) Hansel from Basel kneepad thigh highs:

Yeah, I’m obviously not in the summer mindset yet.

I need this in my life

I mean, COME ON. Come. On.

And while we’re talking about things that I want but can’t have:

These Hansel from Basel tights come in three colors and are on sale at Anthropologie. I had to return mine because I couldn’t pull them up past my hips. They’re made for stick figures, but they continue to haunt my dreams. I called the designer and she said that she was working on getting larger sizes out there so… *crosses fingers*. I’ll be waiting.
