Sorry about that.

I remember being in 4th or 5th grade and spinning around on the blacktop with my classmates, singing that song. Good times. Aaaaand here’s me on another playground, pushing my kid on a – what’s that word again? Oh, SWING.

Pills pills pills

San Diego Hat Company Cloche. Therapy scarf. Fossil Cardigan. F21 skirt. HUE tights. Nicole Mary Janes.

Pay no attention to my baggy tights (shudder). Not a good look. Although maybe you didn’t notice until I mentioned them and then you were like, “Ooooh. EW.” But what’s done is done. Anyway, I do love the rest of the outfit! I recently bought this cardigan, I’ve been on the lookout for a cream colored sweater and suddenly the price ($19.99) was right at Fossil. It’s incredibly soft and has a jewel neckline that I feel iffy about, but that can be remedied quite easily with a scarf or a fur collar. It also pills like crazy. Worth it? Yep. Cuz it’s cuuuuute.

This skirt is also a new purchase. I saw it on kelinda.kelinda and needed it in my life. It’s also deliciously soft and matches my cloche perfectly and has wrinkle free pleats so fist pumps all around.

I’m gearing up to do another 30 for 30 challenge! It starts on February 1st. I’ve already started my list of what I’ll be including. Definitely everything from this outfit. And I’ll add more shoes to my arsenal (7 pairs? 8?!) plus more patterned (and long sleeved!) shirts. Weeeee.

It’s a plaid world

Good old Number Two.

Fossil cardigan. Urban Outfitters shirt. Vintage skirt. HUE tights. Nicole MJs.

Hand in hair = Cool pose! Just go with it.

I wore this a couple of days ago. I’m wishing I had paired it with my brown belt and brogues, but next time, yes?

So what’s new and exciting? Weeeeeeell, in February the boys and I are finally going to Montreal to visit my sister Bethany and her family! So. happy.

Here’s a picture of Montreal:

I have no idea what the hell that is, but it came up in my Montreal google search.

Here’s a picture of of Montreal:

Those military jackets are THE HOTNESS.

I have never listened to their music, but that segue was essential to this post. Apparently they’re from Georgia? Who cares, their name totally SET MY JOKE ON FIRE!

So. Things I’m going to do in Montreal: smother my sister and nephew with sloppy kisses. My brother in law will receive the most masculine hug I can muster up. Bethany and I will probably do the running man at some point, and our boys will spin in perfect circles around us. Andy and Josh will murmur “How’s it going man?” and will be extremely dignified. Then we’ll make snow angels and visit really large churches. At some point we’ll eat cheese curds and speak bad French. Skip into Yellow, skip out with (20 dollar) shoes.

AND THEN. Two weeks after we get back I’ll be headed to New Orleans for work. I KNOW. I’ll be going with colleagues, but I’ll have my own hotel room and I feel so nervous because it’s the first trip I’ve made to a foreign city without family nearby. BUT I’m crazy excited, because I’ve always wanted to visit Gambit‘s birthplace.

Things I’m going to do in New Orleans: Say Nawlins a lot. Eat things that end in -umbo and -balaya. Speak bad French. Walk slack jawed around The FRENCH QUARTER. Oh, and I should probably attend the conference too.

And now…I’m off as my kids are currently trying to climb me. Toods!

A wrinkle in time

Target beanie. Fossil Cardigan. Old Navy shirt. Thrifted (Ladybird’s General Store) skirt. HUE tights. Sock Dreams socks. Frye boots.

An outfit from a couple of days ago. My new skirt shall herewith and forevermore be called Rip Van Wrinkle. Lovingly! Lovingly. True story: I picked it up from the cleaners, paid as the woman who worked there prattled on about how they had to painstakingly iron each and every pleat with care, took it home maintaining the pleat perfection, etc. Rubbed my hands in anticipation before I took it off the hanger. I put it on. Moved an inch. And then? PLEAT OBLITERATION.  NOOOOOOOO.

Still love it though. Maybe next time I’ll pull the outfit together with a belt or something?

I’ve been dreaming of the perfect coat lately, what with the freezing rain and bone chilling breezes that have graced Portland the last couple of days. It would have a full skirt, longer in the back. A hood. The slightest puffed sleeves. Something like a princess/dress/frock coat. Here are some awesome ones that I’ve found online so far:

ASOS Premium Dip Back Coat

Topshop Princess Coat

Topshop Heritage Dress Coat

And of course my favorite (*waves at Heritage Dress coat*) would be an INSANE amount of money. ARGH.

Dress it up

I threw on my 3 dollar Goodwill dress today:

and then I threw another dress on top:

and then I threw on my harness:

and then I decided the harness was a little much (for this outfit, at least).

I do like the dress combo, though! A great Saturday outfit.

Cardigan: Fossil. Dresses: ZARA and Goodwill. Tights and socks: HUE and Sock Dreams. Boots: Doc Martens.

Andy asked me to strike a pose. This…was the best I could do.

(believe me, you don’t want to see the face that I was making)

I’m in love, I’m in love, and I don’t care who knows it!

What I’m wearing:

Fur Collar: Ebay. Cardigan: Fossil. Skirt: J. Crew. Tights: Sock Dreams. Booties: Piperlime (on sale!).

That’s basically how I feel about these Desert Boots. Except I did the running man.

What I’ve been watching (What I’ve watched? You get it):

The Republic of Love.

Gosh. What a wonderful movie. Absolutely, positively splendid.

Bruce Greenwood. Every time Andy sees him he says, “Hey, Nowhere Man! That was a good show.” Every. single. time. He really liked it, I guess? Yeah. So now, even though I’ve never seen it I think, “Hey, it’s Nowhere Man!” every. single. time. I see Bruce Greenwood.

And then there’s Emilia Fox, who will FOREVER be Georgiana, sister to Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Look what I made!

In a nutshell? Nowhere Man (a thrice married radio talk show host) and Georgiana (a mermaid researcher) fall in love at first sight. In Canada.

It’s pretty awesome.

Clothes? Nah, Jeff Bridges ramblefest

Beanie: Target. Cardigan: Gap. Skirts: Fossil. Tights: Sock Dreams. Brogues: Franco Sarto. Fur Collar: Ebay.

I almost got rid of this cardigan, it’s been sitting in our Goodwill pile for ages. The other day I spied it and thought it looked cute again. And behold, it IS cute again! Truly, was it ever NOT cute? That will remain a mystery, my friends. Anyway, then I grabbed the entire pile, eager to see if  I had made any other rash judgments. Sadly, no. So long striped skirt with the odd pleat puff thing in the front! Farewell boxy plaid skirt that hangs on my hips! Auf Weidersehen floral skirt that makes me look like I have no shape at all! Alas, I cannot turn ALL my trash into treasure.

I really should drop that stuff off at Goodwill tout de suite.

Andy and I saw Tron: Legacy last week (a date! a date!), which was a whole lot of MEH but the soundtrack was THE HOTNESS. Oh, and Jeff Bridges? Something something Henry Higgins something elocution lessons something buttload of marbles … I’m too lazy to form a witty joke but you get the general idea, right? Seriously, WHAT ARE YOU SAYING, MAN? Oh, Jeff. *clips chin* Don’t ever change. I love you just the way you are and I really really want to see True Grit.

Jeff Bridges, do you know that I’ve never seen The Big Lebowski? *ducks* That’s right. Mostly because every dude that I knew in college with Bob Marley and Sublime posters on their walls swore it was the Best Thing Ever and I was like, oooh but have you ever seen Starman?

I mean you no harm Jenny Hayden.

And I’d tell them what it was about and they’d say, “Cool!” when I mentioned aliens and then their eyes would glaze over when I got to the silly details like adorable head cocking and apple pie eating and falling in love. You know, the stuff that KILLS me. The stuff that I watch over and over again.

Of course I also loved the original Tron. Fearless was wonderful. White Squall was terrible but the eye candy made up for it. The Fabulous Baker Boys will forever be seared into my brain because I remember my older sister whispering to me the details of the sex scene: “And then…OH MY GOD, AND THEN he slid his hands into her dress and CUPPED HER BREASTS!” The Mirror Has Two Faces was sweet but, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, the ending was a little embarrassing with the dipping and swooning and knee buckling and kissing. I watched it through finger slits but I’m probably going to buy it at some point. The Barbra and Jeff combo can’t be denied. Where was I? Right. You scared the EVERLOVING CRAP out of me in The Vanishing. But, no matter: I washed out my eyes with a couple of rounds of Starman, to remind myself that Jeff Bridges does not only kill, he also resurrects!

I took a film class in college and you can imagine how excited I got when I found out that you were one of the actors/directors/producers that would be interviewed. SO EXCITED. Of course you ended up talking about TBL for like, the entire time, but whatever. Massive rounds of applause and all that every time “The Dude” was uttered. Le sigh. I held out for 13 years, but you know what? FINE.

I guess I’ll have to watch the friggin’ movie already.

Quite possibly one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. Because it’s true.

Almost died laughing at:

“No, no, I have, like A LOT to tell you.” O_O

“I gave up clowning YEARS ago!” “Well, in Portland you don’t have to.”

By the beard of ZEUS, this is awesome. I’ll definitely be watching.
